Talley Management Group, Inc. (TMG) is proud to announce Gene Terry has earned his designation as a Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). The CAE is the foremost certification of the association management industry. Less than five percent of all association professionals have earned the credential.
The CAE designation is designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and identify association professionals who demonstrate the knowledge essential to the practice of association management. Earning and maintain the CAE is a three-part process. Candidates must first submit an application satisfying professional experience and continuing education requirements. The next step is to sit for and pass the CAE exam. To maintain the certification, individuals must undertake ongoing professional development activities in association and nonprofit management. Gene joins 3,900 other association professionals worldwide who have been certified in the credential’s 50-year history.
Gene started with TMG in 2008 and currently serves as the executive director for two of TMG’s client partners – the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE) and the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA). In addition, he serves as an associate division director, with oversight of TMG’s New Jersey office.
Gene began his career in the nonprofit sector as a communications director with the American Lung Association. He moved on to the public relations department at Hahnemann University Hospital, and then returned to his nonprofit roots in various communications and fundraising roles at the American Cancer Society and the March of Dimes.
Gene will be honored along with other newly minted CAEs during ASAE’s 2013 Annual Meeting, in Atlanta, GA, August 4-7.
